London's 10 most fashionable streets

Mount Street

Once the preserve of art dealers and men with a predilection for rifles and cigars, Mount Street has become the millennium’s answer to Bond Street. Céline, Roksanda Ilincic and Christopher Kane mix with Gianvito Rossi and Delfina Delettrez (pictured above). £2,510 per sq ft

Connaught Street

An Aladdin’s cave of a street offering great fashion and accessories at Viola, understated day wear at ME+EM (The Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of its Matelot stripe tops) and refuel on gourmet treats at Cocomaya artisan bakery. £1,064 per sq ft

Cale Street

A treasure trove of one-off stores which includes Felt (jewellery) or Bobo Kids (Parisian kids’ interiors). Sign of the Times second hand designer wear and This Works beauty store are other good reasons to visit Chelsea Green.

£1,934 per sq ft

Westbourne Park Road

How do fashion editors decorate their homes? Look to Wilson, Stephens & Jones for exquisitely curated decorative art. While away the hours next door at The Idler Academy, one of London’s finest bookshops.

£1,125 per sq ft

Redchurch Street

This shabby, Dickensian street has been hailed as the new Bond Street, where Prada, Ralph Lauren and Paul Smith have been sizing up the Georgian façades. Who will join APC, Hostem, Santa Maria Novella and Labour & Wait in this eclectic enclave? £757 per sq ft

Dover Street

Eleven years after Dover Street Market fashion emporium opened, this street still attracts the bold and the beautiful. Style mavens also head to Victoria Beckham, APC, Vanessa Bruno and the Dover Street Arts Club.

£2,426 per sq ft

Ham Yard

Soho is finally returning to its artisan store heritage at Ham Yard, home to an interesting mix of shops including the hip kidswear brand, Caramel London and the most covetable linen, made in the Veneto by the Italian label, Once Milano.

£1,404 per sq ft

Chiltern Street

The opening of the hottest restaurant in town (The Chiltern Firehouse) transformed this once sleepy backwater west of Marylebone High Street. Mouki is the hippest fashion boutique and Prism swimwear is the choice for Ibiza bods.

£1,380 per sq ft

Motcomb Street

If only all high streets looked like this: Ottolenghi for lunch, the jewel box of a chocolate shop Rococo, and hip French designer labels Eres and Christian Louboutin, found beside one of London’s most talented jewellers, Carolina Bucci.

£2,312 per sq ft

Lamb’s Conduit Street

Lamb’s Conduit Street stands out not only as fertile hunting ground for stylish menswear (Folk, Oliver Spencer and Grenson), but also for some of the most arresting (and, affordable) interior objets at Ben Pentreath and Darkroom.

£1,015 per sq ft
